At every instant and from every side, resounds the call of Love
And when the vessel is broken, the vision comes back

More properly known as Aengus Óg, or Aengus the Young, Aengus was the Celtic god of love and youth, a sort of equivalent of a cross between Apollo and Cupid.
The illegitimate son of the Dagda and Boann, Aengus was fostered by his older brother Midir, spending his youth at Bri Leith until he was able to obtain the Brú na Bóinne from Elcmar, his stepfather, through a bit of trickery -- he asked Elcmar if he could stay at Brú na Bóinne for a day and a night. However, Irish has no indefinite article, so "a day and a night" is the same as "day and night", which covers all time, and so Aengus took possession of the Brú permanently. He later killed Elcmar to avenge an attack against Midir.
Aengus was able to partially lift Fuamnach's spell against Etain, the girl he had won for his brother Midir. Fuamnach in a jealous rage had turned the girl into a butterfly. Turning her into a woman at night, Aengus made her his lover until Fuamnach found out about it and drove her away into the wilds again.
However, his love for Etain, and his keeping her from Midir, drove a wedge between the brothers, which has never fully healed.
